Who is eligible to apply for this scholarship?
All Egyptian nationals under the age of 35 are eligible for the Qalaa Holdings Scholarship (QHS). The full set of criteria is available here.
What fields and countries of study are eligible under the Qalaa Holdings Scholarship (QHS)?
All academic fields and universities in countries – outside Egypt, are eligible under the QHS.
What are the degrees funded by the QHS?
QHSF funds full Master’s degrees. The mode of study must be on-campus (online degrees are ineligible) and must be full-time, starting in the Fall intake.
QHSF does not fund PhD degrees.
How much funding does the scholarship offer?
The QHSF funds under two schemes: the full scholarship covering tuition and living expenses and the partial scholarship covering tuition only. The ceiling for tuition fees is 50,000 USD per annum.
On what basis do you decide who will obtain the full scholarship vs. the partial?
This decision is decided based on the quality of the application, financial condition of the applicant and is ultimately assessed by the evaluating committee. It is decided case by case.
I have already begun my Master’s degree. Can I apply for funding my second year?
No. QHSF does not fund students who have already begun their programs.
Can I submit my application form electronically or by hand?
No. The application form is only accepted by postal mail or through our FEDEX account, as per the instructions provided in the APPLY page. Please wait a week after sending the application and send us an email to ask for a confirmation of receipt. The email must be clearly titled and must contain your full name, university you are applying to and the date of sending the application.
I did not keep a copy of my application form to the university, how can I include it in my QHSF application package?
You can request a pdf copy of your application from the university’s records.
What are the general conditions for applying?
The main condition to apply for a QHS is to be accepted at the university of choice. A copy of a valid, official acceptance letter from the university is required for the application to be processed. Conditional acceptance letters are acceptable if they are solely on condition of funding. Acceptance letters with language conditions will not be accepted.
When is the QHSF application form available for download?
The form is available for download during the period of accepting applications which is from January 15 to April 15 of every year. Since our application package must include an acceptance letter to the university of choice, applicants are encouraged to apply to universities as early as possible (for the following fall semester) to ensure that they obtain their acceptance letters before our deadline. As soon as the acceptance letter is obtained, applicants must simply fill in our application form and prepare the remaining required documents, and submit them to us by post before the deadline stated in our schedule.
Do you have a preferred list of universities?
No. We have no preferred list, nor do we direct the scholars to where they should study. This is mainly because we are not a specialized scholarship and are open to funding all academic disciplines and also because we expect our applicants to have a good general knowledge of the field they want to further pursue. We encourage our applicants to carefully research the different programs offered in their field of interest and aim for the most highly regarded ones that match their study needs and interests. Once an application is submitted, QHSF consults a wide variety of resources to assess the quality of the selected program and this (the quality of the program) ultimately constitutes a major criterion for the short listing of an application.
Can I apply to more than one of the scholarships offered by QHSF at the same time?
No. Applicants must choose only one award to apply to. If you happen to fall within the criteria of one of the specialized scholarships, then we encourage you to apply for it. An applicant applying to more than one QHSF offered scholarship at the same time or more than one university within the same scholarship will be rejected.
